About Me
Tom Gilmour
I am a creative freelance photographer based out of Asbury Park, a city that has and continues to inspire me and inform my work. I specialize in creative portraiture, products, architecture, weddings and events, as well as headshots and promotional photography... though my heart truly lies in abandoned historical locations. I've chased rumors around the world in search of crumbling buildings, searching out the beauty that lies within. After graduating from the Pratt Institute I freelanced for 5 years before opening the first of many photo studios I've been a part of. Since then my work has been published internationally and been shown in galleries nationwide.I'm available for all your photographic needs, please contact me for rates and availability. I also teach classes and workshops, and put on all kinds of photo opportunites, classes and workshops to help other photographers hone thier craft.

I grew up on a skateboard, and twenty two years of riding later, the action sports addiction hasn't left my blood. As time has passed I no longer ride at the same level I once did, but the fundemental joy I experienced in those first days is still there. I've come to love many other action sports, BMX, skate, snow, mixed martial arts, thoroughbred horse racing, rally driving, and hot rod racing. Adrenaline, speed, airtime, and skill combine to form a beautiful performance art that photography is uniquely qualified to capture. Its that split second where everything hangs in the balance where driver, rider, jockey, or combatant puts it all on the line, I revel in freezing those moments saving them for an eternity in all their radical splendor.

Product Photography is an art unto itself, one which requires a special kind of patience, attention to detail, and precision that most other photographic pursuits do not require. Shooting products and food have a special set of tricks and techniques that are only acquired through time, practice and guidance from master craftsmen. I've honed my craft by learning from some of the best in the field, and applying those lessons to photographing all different kinds of products for corporate giants the world over.

Worked with corporate management, marketing department and regulatory staff to develop an approved script and storyboards, oversaw all photography and video crew during production, assisted crew during post production, and coordinated packaging design and delivery.
GSD&M Idea City / Primal StareClient: US Air ForceCampaign: USAF / Nascar Switching Seats Microsite Project Manager December 2008- March 2009Led Development team through concept, production, development and launch of immersive 3-d Flash microsite. Project required intensive agency and client end military reviews. Managed client expectations, deliverables, scheduling, and monitored and communicated analytics after launch. Project boasted incredible conversion rates, received great reviews in the traditional press, was featured on international design blogs for innovative interactive design, was featured on the exclusive FWA website, and won numerous awards including a silver Webby and a DOPE design award.
Simply Interactive / Primal StareClient: CovidienCampaign: E-Pump Online TrainingProject Manager / Video Producer / Product Photography November 2009 - January2010 Participated in the concept, execution, and development of an online training program for Covidiens product line of enteral feeding pumps. Project included development of an interactive microsite to teach end users the ins and outs of pump anatomy and operation, production of web video operation tutorials, and product photography for flash animations.
